TO-3
A header for high-power laser diodesAbout the package
The 8-pin TO-3 header is widely used in high-power laser diode systems, including DFB and DBR lasers. Coupled with a suitable heatsink, the TO-3 header can dissipate several watts of heat. Its 8.0×8.0 mm mounting surface allows for easy integration with various thermoelectric coolers (TECs). Additionally, its good thermal conductivity and simple mounting make it useful for photodetector applications. Typically, these headers are constructed with a CRS base and pins. KIMT offers sub-assemblies (TEC + header) on a universal 8-pin TO-3 type with nail-shaped pins. These standard solutions for laser applications can dissipate up to 10 W of heat from a laser diode (LD).
